不同的网，不同的词

大家对“网络”的英语词一定不陌生：

关键是不要忘记定冠词”the”.

说到Wifi，泛指时则不需要用the:

如果是描述特定的一个wifi网络，以及与之相关的信息，就要用the:

What’s the wifi password here? 这里的无线网络密码是什么？
Data: 流量
Data plan: 流量套餐
Data plans have become significantly cheaper in the past few years: 过去几年里，流量套餐便宜了很多
Roaming: 漫游
Don’t forget to activate roaming before you travel: 出行前别忘了开通漫游

断网

英语里有不少常用的说法来描述“断网”：

My internet was down for the whole day: 我网断了一天
The entire wifi service is down. We don’t know when it’ll be fixed: 整个wifi服务都中断了，不知道什么时候才能修好

Sorry, I didn’t hear what you said. My internet cut out: 对不起，我没听见你说的。我的网刚断了
Could you repeat what you just said? You were cutting out for a minute: 你介意再重复一下吗？你的网络刚才断了

Are you still online? I just got disconnected: 你还在线吗？我刚才断网了
Our video conference just got disconnected. Let’s bring everyone in again: 我们的视频会议刚断线了，我们再加大家一下

I was in the middle of an interview when I lost my internet connection. What a nightmare! 我面试到一半，突然没网了。太倒霉了！
I lost my wifi connection a few times this week. I should call customer support: 我这周断网好几次了，应该找客服

网卡

同样也有几个不同的常用表达：

1） Choppy: 源自动词chop(切），断断续续的，像被切成一截一截的

Sorry, I missed what you said. The connection is really choppy: 不好意思，我没听见你说的。网络连接断断续续的
The wifi is so choppy. Can’t stream anything: wifi断断续续，在线什么都看不了

2）Laggy: 滞后的、卡顿的；

The live stream was very laggy. I could barely hear what the host was saying: 直播非常卡, 我都听不清主播在说什么
The video is super laggy. Let’s switch to audio instead: 视频太卡了，我们转成语音吧

3）Lag: laggy的名词，也是滞后、卡顿的意思　

4）In and out: 时有时无

5）Spotty: 星星点点，不流畅

I’ll be hiking in the mountains. The cell coverage might be very spotty: 我要去爬山，手机信号覆盖大概不太好
