Shoppers in Chengdu now have a new and more convenient payment experience using Touch and Pay, a revised version of code scanning initiated by Alipay, the Chinese mobile payment platform, which enables its users to purchase via the payment page by touching the point-of-sale terminals with the unlocked mobile phone.
Touch and Pay enhances the Alipay payment experience with a more direct payment mode that the previous and popular Scan and Pay, which requires the payers to enter the Alipay page and then click through to scan the bill code. Instead, the payers using Touch and Pay can complete payments with the touch of the mobile phone at the point-of-sale terminals without any withdrawals or interfering the watching of dramas or live broadcasts. Payments via Touch and Pay can be a one-step process.

Up to now, the app has been applied to use at nearly 10, 000 business outlets in Chengdu, including the landmark malls like MixC, Joy City, Ito Yokado and Chicony, and convenience stores like Hong Qi Chain, Meiyijia and Wei Ding Hui Snacks. Open the Alipay and search Touch and Pay, and the nearby business outlets supporting the new payment mode will be shown on the pages.
Payments via Touch and Pay can be completed ONLY when your phone is unlocked, and will not happen when it is in the black screen state or the cashier doesn’t receive it. Safety of payments is guaranteed as the new payment mode is as safe as the payment via code scanning. Alipay has announced its policy that it will refund the payers full-amount for any theft payments incurred in using the new payment mode.
