UnionPay International (UPI), a subsidiary wholly controlled by China UnionPay, announced on November 6 that all the UnionPay cards issued overseas had achieved full recognition of Alipay as well as WeChat Pay supported by Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. This means that expats now living or working in China can enjoy the same payment convenience as locals, starting on November 6, after they link Alipay and WeChat Pay with their UnionPay cards.
2024年11月6日，中国银联全资子公司银**际宣布，境外发行的银联卡已全面支持绑定支付宝，同时在中国工商银行支持下，微信支付也已开通支持该服务。也就是说，从2024年11月6日起，外籍来华人员下载支付宝App或微信App，绑定境外本地发行的银联卡就可以和境内用户一样享受扫码支付带来的便捷体验。
The new payment mode is expected to offer the following benefits for expats:
据介绍，这一创新支付模式将为外籍人员来华旅游、工作和生活提供更多支付便利：
1. No service charge on payments during the marketing period;
一是推广期内持卡人在境内支付全程零手续费。
二是“食、住、行、游、购、娱、医、学”等线上线下全场景覆盖，主扫、被扫、In-App支付均开通支持。
三是绑卡流程简单，输入卡号、有效期等银行卡信息，通过发卡行校验后即可快速完成银联卡的绑定。
It is reported that a total of 250 million overseas UnionPay cards have so far been issued in 83 countries and regions across the world, which are applicable to usage in 183 countries and regions.
据了解，目前，在境外已有83个国家和地区发行超过2.5亿张银联卡，这些卡片可在183个国家和地区跨境通用。
